Caspian
Sea: The Caspian Sea is
the largest lake on Earth by both area and volume. It is land locked body of
water and lies between Russia and Iran. It has a maximum depth of about 1025
meters and has a salinity of approximately 1.2%

Victoria: South Africa’s
largest lake as well as largest tropical lake in the world. It is the source of
the longest branch of the Nile River, the White Nile

Lake Michigan: It is one of the five Great Lakes of North America. It
has an area of 58016 sq.km making it the largest freshwater lake in the US. The
lake’s average depth is 85 meters, while its greatest depth is 281 meters
·

Tanganyika: Lake
Tanganyika is a large lake in Central Africa. It is estimated to be the second
largest lake in the world by Volume. In depth (1470m maximum) it is second only
to Lake Baikal.

Baikal: Lake Baikal is
lies in southern Siberian in Russia. Lake Baikal is the deepest and oldest lake
in the world as well as the largest freshwater lake by volume. Now it is a
world heritage site

Titicaca: Lake Titicaca is
the highest commercially navigable lake in the world in the world at 3812
meters above the sea level. Ore than 35 rivers empty into Titicaca. It is
located in the Altiplano high in the Andes on the border of Peru and Bolivia.

Salt Lake: is endorheic
(has no outlet besides evaporation) and thus has very high salinity. It is
saltier than sea water.

Superior: Lake Superior is
the largest North America’s Great Lakes. It is the largest fresh water lake in
the world by surface area and third largest by volume. The lake is fed by over
200 rivers.

Eyre: The lake is
located in the deserts of Central Australia. It is largest lake in Australia as
well as the lowest point of the continent, approximately 15 meters below the
sea level.

Dead
Sea: It is an example
of rift valley lake which lies along the West Bank of Jordan. The Jordan river
flows into the Dead Sea which has no outlet, and evaporation balances the
inflow.

Chad
Lake: A large, shallow
freshwater lake in North-Central Africa. Maximum depth is about 6m, but average
depth is only about 1.2m. Lake Chad is fed by several rivers and has no outward
drainage. It constitutes one of the largest inland drainage areas of Africa.

Victoria
Lake: Africa’s largest
lake and a part of the Nile River system. It is relatively shallow, with a maximum
depth of only 82m. It lies in a broad, shallow basin on the vast East African
Plateau.
