·      America’s military adventure in Iraq came to a close in August 2010 with official declaration of ceasing of combat operations and handing over of authority to the Iraqi government.

·      The last American combat soldiers left the country leaving behind under 50000 troops to advise and assist the Iraqi forces. They too departed in December 2011.
