·       Lunar is the adjective of Moon

·       The moon is earth’s natural satellite and it is our nearest neighbour in space

·       The moon is about one-fourth the size of earth. It is the 5th largest satellite in solar system

·       The moon takes 27 days 7 hours 43 minutes and 11.47 seconds to complete one revolution around earth. It rotates on its axis exactly the same time hence we see only one side of the moon always

·       Neil Armstrong was the first astronaut to land on the moon in Apollo 11 in 1969 July 21

·       Ocean of Storms is the name of a waterless spot on the moon

·       The element found on the surface of the moon is titanium

·       The first spacecraft to land on the moon was Luna 9 (1966) of the erstwhile USSR

·       Sea of Tranquility is the place on moon where Apollo 11 landed

·       The mean distance between earth and moon is 384400 km

·       The average orbital speed of moon is 3680 km per hour

·       Over 59% of the moon’s surface is directly visible from Earth

·       Diameter of moon: 3476km

·       Six American spacecraft from 1969 to 1972 brought 12 astronauts to walk on the surface of moon

·       First man landed on the moon: Neil Armstrong (1969), Eugene Cermen is the man landed last (1972)
