The Hi-Tech Crime
Enquiry Cell is a special unit of the Kerala Police in Kerala, which began
operations on the 5th May 2006. It was formed to prevent, detect and
defend serious and organized High Technology crimes

The unit is organized
for the purpose to prevent, investigate and prosecute computer and related crimes
by working with other government agencies, the private sector, academic
institutions and foreign counterparts

Hi-Tech Crime Enquiry
Cell (HTCEC) is located at Kerala Police Headquarters, Thiruvananthapuram. It
comprises of highly trained personnel who have been trained in Cyber Forensics
by C-DAC
·
They are equipped
with the state-of-the-art hardware and software to handle any kind of Cyber
Crime. One of the mandates of the Cell is to train Police Personnel of the
Ditrict in handling of Cyber Crime and Digital Evidence

Accordingly, the
Cyber Cell conducts training of DySPs/CIs/Sis regularly to impart training on
the issues. The most commonly reported Crimes (technology induced in our State
are Hacking, sending of pornographic mails, distorting social network sites,
sending obscene SMS / Mails, Cyber Cheating, Cyber Stalking etc…

Hi-Tech Crime Enquiry
Cell is conducting awareness classes on Cyber Crimes among public/Educational Institutions
those who require for the same. The program included present scenario of cyber
related offences, use and misuse of Information Communication Technology,
offences and punishments, Do’s and Don’ts to be followed by the General
Public/Students etc…
