· Kasargod district is bounded in the East by Western
Ghats, West by Arabian Sea, North by South Kanara district of Karnataka and South
by Kannur District
· Yakshaganam is the popular folk art of Kasargod
· Land of Fort-Kumbala, Chandragiri, Hozdurg, Bekkal are
the important fort
· Bekal Fort: it is the biggest fort of Kerala. Hyder Ali
conquered it in 1763. At the same year, East India Company fought against Tippu
Sulthan and took control of fort.
· Ananthapura Lake Temple, an ancient temple, dedicated to
Lord Vishnu. This is only Lake Temple in Kerala
· Historical Monument Malik Dinar Mosque is situated in
this district
· Kottencheri hills – located near Talakaveri which is the
starting point of the Kaveri river is in Kasargod
· Kareem forest park – the only man made forest in the Kerala
is in Kasargod
· Other tourist attractions are Chandragiri Fort,
Anandashramam, Nithyanandashramam, Mallikarjuna Temple, Cheruvathur Veerama
Dutch Fort, Valiyaparambu Lake Resort Centre, Kottanchery, Kumbala, Kappil
Beach etc..
· Most widely spoken (by about 78%) and administrative
language is Malayalam. Tulu, Beary bashe, Kannada, Marathi and Konkani are also
spoken
· Kasargod is known as land of gods
· The district through which large number of rivers
flow-Kasargod
· The only district in Kerala where Tobacco is cultivated-Kasargod
· The Northern most district of Kerala – Kasargod.
· Central Plantation crops research institute is in Kasargod
· The birthplace of Malayalam poet P.Kunjiraman Nair is in
Kanjangadu.
